What patients can expect when visiting Hightree Medical

Initial appointment

The first appointment is planned to take between 45 minutes and 1½ hours.

It involves a review of personal medical history, a clinical examination if necessary, suggested diagnostic tests, options of care, discussion of patient expectations, agreement of treatment plan and follow-up.

Please notify reception staff before you visit the clinic if you have any special requirements, communication or mobility needs etc.

What to bring with you:

    • A brief, summarising letter from your GP, Hospital doctor or Therapist-in-charge / A self-written medical history summary.

    • Any summarising letter describing your medical condition or copies or print-outs of your recent and past medical diagnoses, investigations, scan reports, test results etc.A list of any medication you are currently taking (whether prescribed by your doctor, bought as supplements over the counter, vitamins, herbal and homeopathic substances you may be taking).

Follow-up Sessions:

    • Need to be pre-booked either via email or telephone.

    • Please keep us updated and informed with any important changes to your health. The use of a symptom-diary can be very useful for making subsequent appointments more focused.

    • During treatment it helps us if you update us on pathology reports; reports from CT scans, PET scans, MRIs, X-Rays; surgical reports; psychology and counselling assessments, results of your most recent blood analysis and for example a record of previously received chemotherapy, including protocols and dates of treatments.

    • Further laboratory testing may be required.

Laboratory Tests:

    • The standard pathology tests and blood works can normally be requested via your NHS support team.

    • When delays cannot be accepted or when more specific tests or assays, certain metabolic indicators, hormone profiles, tumour markers are required please let us know in advance as often this requires ordering of test kits and some specific handling and packaging of the test specimens which Hightree Medical can arrange for you.

      • Specific test assays can test for certain contaminants, toxins and parasites, can include also nutritional or endocrine profiles, oxidative stress tests, etc.

      • They are charged separately and copies of results will be passed on to you when they become available.

    Communication with Your GP:

    • On registering with us for treatment, you have the option for your GP or other care providers to be informed about your visit and possible new treatments that you may decide for.

    • We tend to provide you or your GP with copies of test results or with  a summarising letters or correspondence when a change in medication or treatment is recommended.

    • It is important that you continue all medication provided by other care providers, unless change is discussed or has been suggested.
